During the Putnam/Northern Westchester Pines Bridge Graduation ceremony, Pines Bridge Principal Judy Spaulding presented State Senator Vincent Leibell with a plaque expressing appreciation for his special support this past year. Senator Leibell helped the school secure a $20,000 Special Legislative Project grant from the State Education Department. The funds supported a six-week residency by musician Billy Ayres of Cross River (who not only sang to the students but encouraged them to perform solos as well), six visits by The Nature of Things of North Salem (including centipedes, corn snakes, chinchillas, and much more), staff development opportunities for the Pines Bridge staff, and new mobile multi-media stations for classroom activities.
