MACKIN, JOHN F. - John F. Mackin, 85, died on August 25, 2000. Formerly of Throgs Neck, Scarsdale and Long Beach Island, NJ. He was born on February 3, 1915 to John and Catherine (nee Smith) Mackin in NYC. John was a US Army Veteran during WWII. Mr. Mackin was a Basketball Official and Baseball Umpire at high school and college levels and a member of Catholic High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame. John worked for Metropolitan Life for 44 years, retiring in 1979. He is predeceased by his wife Edith (nee Connelly) Mackin in 1976, 3 sisters and one brother. He is survived by one son, Joseph Mackin of Hawthorne,NY, 3 daughters, Peg Adamo of Chappaqua, NY, Mary Grosso of Hingham, MA, Patricia Walsh of Wilton, CT, one brother, Peter Mackin of Yonkers, NY and 12 grandchildren. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY on Monday 11 AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
