ALLEN, EVELYN SIMS - ALLEN, EVELYN SIMSEvelyn Sims Allen was born January 14, 1925 in Tallahassee, FL to the late Willie and Mattie Sims and departed this life in the evening of December 24, 2004. Evelyn was married to Sanford B. Allen, Sr. (who preceded her in death on December 17, 1968). They were blessed with four children. Vivacious and kindhearted with a natural ability to make a stranger become a friend, Evelyn always had a ready smile for everyone. She was the devoted wife of Sanford B. Allen, Sr, the supportive mother of Sanford, Jr. (deceased), Yvonne, Marvin (deceased) and Elaine; a loving Nana to Gene, Jr., Sanford III, La Toya, Chad and Jalaine and the proud great grandmother of Shanel, Keionna, Chason and Jasai. She also leaves to mourn a sister Lucille Edgecomb (Tallahassee, FL), two brothers Rev. Willie Sims (Brooklyn, NY), Matthew Sims (Tallahassee, FL), sister-in-law Joann Sims (Tallahassee, FL), a niece Christene Belton (NYC), two nephews Billy and Jamel Sims (NYC) and a host of family and friends. Visitation Wednesday, December 29, 2004 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Clavary Baptist Church, 15 Clinton Street, Haverstraw, NY. Service Thursday 10 am at Clavary Baptist Church.
