BLAZEK, BARBARA - Barbara Blazek, 87, having lived at the Fulton County Residential Facility in Gloversville, New York for the last thirteen years, died Saturday morning, January 11, 2003, after a prolonged illness. She was born on January 23, 1915, in Ruska Nova Ves, Slovakia, the daughter of Barbara and Joseph Hirko. Barbara (Baba) was a homemaker and had been employed in the past at the Alexander Smith Carpet Factory in Yonkers. Barbara was very devoted to her family and took great pride in her grandchildren. Mrs. Blazek had been a resident of Yonkers for 45 years before moving to Gloversville, New York in 1980. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith and was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers and subsequently, of Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville, New York. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Blazek. Survivors include one son, Andrew Blazek of Mahopac, New York and a daughter, Marilyn Rooney of Gloversville, New York. She had six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are being managed by Whalen & Ball Funeral Home, 168 Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Church in Yonkers on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at 10 AM.
