Iria Soares of Yonkers died peacefully on October 22, 2010. Born on July 4, 1912 in Torre, Batalha, Portugal, she was 98. In 1948 she emigrated to Yonkers with her three children. She was married to the love of her life Francisco for almost 72 years. He predeceased her on September 2, 2009. Iria is survived by her loving daughters, Julia (John) DaSilva, Adelia (Anthony) Landi from Yonkers, devoted niece Gracinda (John) Maier of Solana Beach, CA. also survived by grandchildren, Daniel DaSilva, Adelia DaSilva Eddy, Marisa Landi Cocks, Christina Landi Murray, Michelle, Horace and Rui Soares, nine adoring greatgrandchildren who will never forget their great-grandma also known as vivo, special nieces Maria Emelia Romao and Grace Reis. She is survived by many nieces and nephews here and in Portugal. Let's not forget Elena and David Svetcov and Carmine D'Anna who always had a special love and devotion to "Mae". Besides her beloved husband, Iria was predeceased by her never forgotten son Horacio, brother Manuel, sisters Guilhermina, Maria Julia and Emilia. Besides having her family as the love of her life, Iria enjoyed gardening and her year round flowers. She enjoyed sharing her garden goods with neighbors. Julia and Adelia wish to take this opportunity to thank the Staff on 6th floor West of St. Johns Riverside Hospital for their special tenderness that they gave to "Mae" these last two weeks. Let us not forget Dr. David Tang and Dr. Michael Schreiber. Nana and Comfort we will love you forever. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave on Sunday from 4 to 9 PM. Funeral Mass Monday at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Church (Yonkers). Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
