Ronald Christopher Jankowski, age 53, suddenly passed away on February 10, 2009. He was born in Kingston, NY, on November 21, 1955, to the late Fred and Nancy Jankowski. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Carol Ann (Zivica) and his son, Christopher Ronald of Briarcliff Manor, NY. Ron is survived by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Zivica of Tarrytown, NY, his brother Fred and his wife Sandy of Ocala, FL, Ed and his wife, Jamie, of NY, NY, Jimmy and his wife, Carol, of Brewster, NY, Robert and his wife, Karen, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and his sister Mary Pfiel and her husband, Tom, of Brewster, NY. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, John Zivica, and his wife, Shelly, of Williamsburg, VA, and his brother-in-law Michael Zivica and his wife, Gail, of Lake George, NY, and Mary Beth Mazzacone and her husband Vincent of Pleasantville, NY. He is also survived by his aunt, Gloria Verrone. He was a loving uncle to seventeen nieces and nephews. Ron was a former Captain and Life Member of the Scarborough 92 Engine Company. Ron devoted his free time as a volunteer and was passionate in helping new and old members. He played a pivotal role in developing and promoting the Fire Company to make it the successful organization that is today. He strived to make youth more connected to the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department, and he would take time out to teach courses to High School students in fire safety with hopes that one day they would be a part of his team. He had a long career with IBM of over 32 years where he was Human Resource professional. Ron was an avid sports participant and lifetime Rangers fan. He loved the game of hockey and played from his childhood. He was a regular player for over 20 years with a devoted group of friends on a Tuesday night hockey group at the Harvey School. He also played for the Blazing Saddles Hockey Team, the White Plains Plainsmen, New York City Fire Department B Team and his Engine 92 team. Ron was a team leader and inspiration to the players on all teams he played for and led. Over the years he played softball and coached little league baseball. He was a coach for the Pace University Hockey Team. He graduated from Mahopac High School in 1974 where he was the Senior Class President. From there he continued on to Duchess Community College and proceeded to go to Virginia Tech for a Business Management Degree. Ron never met a person who wasn't his friend and had a great sense of humor, a heart of gold and touched the lives of all that met him. Viewing Friday, February 13, 2009, 2 - 5 and 7 - 9PM.
