Andrew J. Cipolla Jr., "Honey", a lifetime Yonkers resident died peacefully on January 27, 2009 at the age of 80. After graduating from Manhattan College in 1958 with a B.S. in Education and after receiving a Masters Degree of Education from Hunter College in 1961 he embarked on a teaching career in physical education and health. For 32 years he taught at Cardinal Spellman High School, retiring in 1994. While there he was also a successful and popular football, baseball and basketball coach. His efforts and long time committment to the school earned his induction into the Cardinal Spellman Sports Hall of Fame in 1992. Andrew was a longtime and dedicated member of the Westchester County Football, Baseball and Basketball Associations. From 1973 thru 1980 he served as secretary-treasurer of the Westchester Baseball Association. In 1967 he received the C.Y.O. Archdiocese of NY award at St. Patrick's Cathedral for outstanding service to the youth of Westchester County. Andrew was an avid sports fan and was considered by many to being an expert on sports trivia. During the Korean War he served in the Air Force from 1950-1953. Beloved husband of 44 years to Mildred (Morton) Cipolla. Devoted father of Andrew (Debra) J. Cipolla III, John Cipolla, Beth Bernardone and Donna (Steven) Perrotta. Loving father-in-law of the late Vincent J. Bernardone. Cherished brother of Mildred Cipolla and the late Vin and Robert and Katherine DelDuca. Adored grandfather of Vincent, Nicholas and Joseph Bernardone and Samantha and Devyn Perrotta. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, Yonkers, NY, 601 Yonkers Ave. on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church (Nepera Park) on Saturday at 10AM.
