BASIC FUNCTION
A Universal Editor reaches audiences by producing content for all delivery platforms; performs production-level copy-editing; writes headlines and captions; design pages; and handles related production tasks for print and digital delivery platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform production-level copy editing on articles and graphic elements that have cleared the front end. Ensure style, spelling, punctuation and grammar meet quality standards.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes multiple video and written -conversation- posts and updates daily to individual and/or desk-supported blogs.
  • Assist with the editing and preparation of reader-submitted material, including content generated online or conceived as Letters to the Editor, for publication and/or republication in new or existing products and across multiple platforms.
  • Use relevant social-networking technologies (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to advance community conversation online. Cultivate community feedback through active engagement with readers and community leaders. Advocates for readers and formulates editorial policy in collaboration with other Opinion staff.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelor Degree, preferably in journalism, communications or a related field – or equivalent experience; three years of daily journalism experience, preferably in a multi-platform environment.
