Why are you running for office or seeking re-election?
What in your personal, civic or professional experience recommends your election or return to office?
I have been involved in our schools for many years. I have a high school student, a middle school student and my youngest is in elementary school. I am the current president of the Kent Primary PTO. This role that has allowed me the opportunity to develop strong relationships with our families, teachers and district administrators. I have presided over many fundraising efforts which have helped bring technology to our students as well as revitalizing the outdoor plays areas at our school. I regularly attend board meetings to be sure I am well informed. I believe that with my personal business experience as well as my experience in our district I can be a great asset to the team that is Carmel Central School District.
What would be your top three priorities if you are elected or re-elected?
My first priority will always be our students. Each of us values something different in an academic career and every choice is equally important. I would work to see that all needs are met. Whether it is a 2 or 4 year college or vocational training- a gifted learner or a student who needs more support. Each child should be given the same opportunity to reach his or her full potential.
I would also continue to work towards implementing the use of technology in our schools. We cannot expect to have our students career and college ready without it. As part of our district/'/s technology committee we are working towards bringing a responsible and academically appropriate program to our students.
I would also hope to foster a stronger sense of community. I believe everyone/'/s opinion counts. During my years on PTO, I have worked hard to develop open lines of communication. As a part of our districtís board, I would hope to continue to build upon the work I have already started. Continue to listen to the parents and our community. And handle the tough choices with respect and equity.
