Why are you running for office or seeking re-election?
As a long standing member of this community and a parent of three children who currently attend and will be enrolled in Ramapo Central Schools, I have a vested interest in supporting and maintaining the exceptional educational experiences offered by this district. I believe I bring to the table a unique set of experiences, both professionally and personally, which I hope make thoughtful and significant contributions.

What in your personal, civic or professional experience recommends your election or return to office?
Though my professional experiences I have acquired skills which I believe add a valuable perspective to a Board of Education. During my academic career I have participated in graduate education; mentoring medical students, residents and fellows in training. I developed educational and outreach initiatives to help staff and residents deal with complex bioethical concerns. Through other professional and research activities I have engaged communities in order to improve health outcomes. At the World Health Organization, I worked with a team to assess the prevalence of violence against women in resource poor countries. My current research aims to improve decision making between health care providers and patients using multi-disciplinary approaches; bridging communication and decision sciences with neonatal bioethics and outcomes research. I currently serve on two bioethics committees designed to promote ethical practices and policies at institutional levels. Finally, my work as a Pediatrician and Neonatologist, focuses on ensuring the well-being of children and their families.

What would be your top three priorities if you are elected or re-elected?
1-Promote Collaboration
2-Maintain Educational Excellence and Longevity
3-Maintain Safe Schools for our Children
1- I currently chair the strategic planning committee. This committee is designed to engage members of the community, administration and staff through collaborative processes using quantitative and qualitative methodology.
2- The committee will develop and refine district goals to ensure educational excellence and maintain fiscal longevity.
3- Upon joining the board I toured the schools and engaged parents and staff to gather information about their perceptions of security in our schools. I plan to remain vigilant, for example by addressing security matters whenever appropriate during policy revisions and obtaining periodic updates.
