Why are you running for office or seeking re-election?
I have been attending Board meetings now for several years and have been a very active member of the PTA. I felt now was the right time for me to take a more active role in the direction in which our district is heading. I believe as a mother of 2 boys, I can bring added value this Board needs to make collaborative decisions with fellow Board Members for ALL the children in our District. I want to be part of the solution to make sure our District continues to offer the excellent education that my children have been afforded the opportunity to have.
As a mother, homeowner, and taxpayer, I have a vested interest in maintaining the quality education that Clarkstown provides while keeping taxes at a manageable level for the community.

What in your personal, civic or professional experience recommends your election or return to office?
Over the years, I have served on numerous New City Elementary PTA Committees; such as School Board Representative in addition to being the New City Elementary PTA President from 2012-2014. I have also served on the Budget Outreach Committee for Secondary Schools as well as on the budget workshop. I play an active part in coordinating and managing the "Raise the Bar" program at work, which was developed to encourage individuals to think of new innovative ideas to grow the business.

What would be your top three priorities if you are elected or re-elected?
My top three priorities would be as follows: Redistricting and closing buildings: I feel it is important to keep an open mind and review all the data provided; such as the demographers report showing our declining enrollment, transportation studies and as I become more informed of all the facts that would help make the best decision for our children. Common Core: I will strive to be an advocate of not "teaching to the test" Since the testing (standardized/common core) is mandated by the state, it is important that we work together as a community to strongly encourage our elected officials that changes need to be made without penalties to any district. If common core continues, I feel that additional assessment of these tests be re-evaluated to make sure they are properly structured to the subject matter that all students are learning. Technology: I will continue to push toward technologies that can deliver cost savings while complementing the educational experience in the classroom, such as 21st Century Learner, which provides students with a relevant environment for virtual learning. I will represent the community, willing to listen, learn and always keep the main focus on the children’s’ education.
