Premier Fitness
When former gym manager Brian Fahrenfeld was thinking about starting his own fitness center, he vowed to pay attention to the little things.
At Premier Fitness, which opened in late April behind the Nanuet Mall, that starts with the free towel you're offered when you walk into the gym.
Aside from the 150 pieces of exercise equipment, Premier Fitness offers other unique benefits. There's a child-care area complete with books, toys and a television to keep the kids busy while mom or dad work out. There's a camera overhead so staff can keep an eye on things.
The locker rooms feature wood-raised panel doors, and each shower has a separate dressing area for additional privacy. Fahrenfeld didn't overlook the soap and shampoo they're free too.
"Our members can do without them, but they're nice to enjoy," Fahrenfeld said.
The gym's 2,000 members have a variety of activities and amenities to choose from, including saunas, steam rooms, personal trainers, a cardiovascular area, weight room, cycling studio and classes in yoga, step and cardio boxing.
There's more. Fahrenfeld has created a separate stretch room at the request of club members and he plans to open a juice bar at the end of the summer. It'll sell juice, smoothies and protein drinks.
Bottoms up.
Address: 430 S. Nanuet Mall, Nanuet. 845-920-0501.
