During his life, Bailey was known by those closest to him as a leader, friend and avid fisherman.
"He was the glue that kept a lot of people together,'' is how his mother, Judy, described him.
Now, 10 years since his death, Brett T. Bailey still manages to bring hundreds of people together each June.
Sportsmen and fishermen throughout the region circle the date of when the annual Brett T. Bailey Mako Rodeo fishing tournament takes place.
Originally organized by mother Judy, father Kevin along with his two siblings - Yarah and Yuriah - and fiancee Dina Carlucci the event has blossomed through the years.
Each year, the Brielle-based tournament awards thousands in prize money while, more importantly raising even more money towards the Brett T. Bailey Foundation.
The foundation, according to its website, donates regularly to families of the New Jersey National Guard and Reservists. In recent years contributed to such noteworthy charities as the Doctors Without Borders, The Hole in the Wall Gang, Lance Armstrong Foundation as well as Seton Hall Prep and a local fire company.
